Measuring Shortening and Peanut Butter

One thing I dislike about baking is measuring sticky items like shortening and peanut butter. Actually I don't mind the measuring, it is the clean-up I don't care for. Here is an easy solution my mom taught me years ago. Take a glass measuring cup and fill it to the 1 cup line. Then add your sticky ingredient until it displaces to the water to the measurement you need. So for example, if … [Read more...]

Menu Plan Week of September 22

Monday Breakfast - Pancakes Lunch- Sandwiches, Fruit Dinner- Hamburgers, BBQ spare … [Read more...]

Scavenger Hunt

I just returned from a four day trip so my tip is a quick one today. If you want to make a short term dent in your grocery budget, clean out your pantry, fridge, and freezer. I cleaned mine out last week and was able to find enough food for an entire week of meals. I will only need to purchase milk, eggs, butter, cheese and a few side items this week at the grocery store. This will cut my bill in … [Read more...]
