A Simple yet Delightful Treat

Last week I videoed my kitchen in an attempt to show everyone what a real week in my kitchen looked like. What you didn’t see was many of the flubs, goofs, and just plain fun we had making the videos. On the last day my sister decided she wanted to contribute with a video tutorial of her own.

A little background on my sister. For many years she considered cereal to be an acceptable dinner option. We would often cringe when she offered to bring a dish to potluck. I remember one year there was a pecan pie gone horribly wrong…

Since she got married a few years back she has greatly improved her culinary skills. I don’t like to brag, but I do think she has been reading my site and learned a great deal from my cooking tips.

So, without further ado I present to you her first cooking tutorial.

A Simple and Yet Sweet and Delightful Treat

  1. Ha ha!! Thanks for a little humor on my relaxing Saturday morning.

  2. hehe! I just sat here and giggled as I watched this!

  3. This was SOOO funny. Brown sugar and cinnamon Pop Tarts are my very favorite and I eat them the same way as your sister – But I sure didn’t know about the stack-n-eat technique. Gotta try it!!!!

  4. Brown Sugar Cinnamon are my favorite, too! =)

  5. *snicker snicker* Very informative! I have that SAME toaster oven!

  6. This was SO hilarious! How could she keep a straight face? But it succeeded in getting me to call my husband to pick up some Pop-Tarts. 🙂

  7. Just laughed and shook my head. You guys are silly, but she’s right! It is a YUMMY snack! =)

  8. That was too funny!

I thought I was the only one that ate pop tarts like that. Great tutorial! 🙂

I haven’t had a pop tart for years–now I’m dying to go buy some. Brown Sugar and Cinnamon are definitely the best.

  9. To funny !! That would be my daughters idea of a greta meal 🙂

    Thanks for the laugh
    Blessings-
    Rachelle

  10. Thank you so much for your insight. We will be sure to employ her technique while on vacation… that’s when we eat the most of these delightful sweet treats.

  11. Your sister is a hoot, she is great!

  12. I just want to know–how did she do that without laughing through the entire scene???? I would never be able to keep a straight face about something that funny. Thanks for a great laugh!

  13. No way! Here’s what a sucker I am. Through the first half of the video, I honest to goodness thought it was serious and she was going to show us some fabulous dessert to make with the pop tarts! Sheesh.

  14. I’m with Amy…I kept thinking, there’s got to be more. She’s going to show us a cool recipe using Pop-Tarts. But no. That was too funny.

  15. Finally! Some cooking advice for the rest of us!

  16. Serenity says:

That was a riot!!! I loved it! I have been known to buy pop tarts when they are free (or close to it) with a coupon and save them as dessert. Until now I always felt guilty about it!!! Thanks for clearing my conscience 🙂

  17. LOL. Great video. I eat my pop tarts the same way your sister does. Except one at a time. I also open the package the same way. lol Too funny. How did she keep a stright face during that whole video. Also how did the camera person keep from laughing. lol.

  18. Oh yes, this was a tip to share with my teens. They almost have it, but the double stack seems to be the most innovative tip I have read thus far! Thanks for the smiles:)
    Jennifer

  19. That is HILARIOUS!!!! I think she needs her own cooking site!

  20. Funny! I eat my pop tarts the exact same way. First I eat the not-so-yummy outer crusts and then I peel the two layers apart and eat the bottom before the top. My husband thinks I am nuts since he just has at it eating it straight from one side to the other – not that we grown-ups have discussions about the proper way to eat a pop tart, no not us 🙂

  21. LOL! That’s hilarious. Your sister and I share a big love for Pop Tarts. I loved them as a kid and never grew out of it. However, I prefer unfrosted strawberry tarts.

  22. Denise C. says:

    HAHAHA! That was great! 😉

  23. kim dempsey says:

I KNEW there was a reason I liked your sister. Poptarts are a food group, you know.
🙂 Although my drink of choice with a poptart would be a coke. But since I’m on the wagon, better make that an orange juice.

  24. LOL! 😀 Too funny!

  25. Thank you so much for this! Much needed humor… I was just tearing up (and annoying my great hubby) about both my kiddos (5 & almost 2) reaching major milestones today. I am blessed that they have and I thank you for your wonderful blog.

  26. HAHAHHA I just finally had a moment to watch. Your sis is FUNNY! And I agree I don’t see how she kept the straight face. But should have known when you see a guy(is that your hubby??) in the background at the beginning crackin up!

  27. Laura J. says:

Your sister is absolutely adorable. That was so cute and I do not know how she got through it without cracking up! LOL

  28. Chrissy Anderson says:

Oh my gosh, this is a trip. Thanks for the laugh.

  29. Somebody's Mimi says:

My grandson is visiting and that is all he wants to eat!! But we don’t have a toaster over!!! Do you think a regular toaster will work??? Please help!

  30. Serenity's husband says:

I must admit, I have given Serenity a little bit of a hard time about her fascination with your site. But lately I have noticed how many tips and techniques she gets from visiting on a regular basis, and have found myself visiting from time to time. Now, thanks to that expert POP-TART tutorial, we can all rest assured that when Saturday morning comes, the kids and I will be well taken care of. Let no one disrespect the POP-TART ever again. Who knew it could be SO easy?

  31. Oh, thank you Trisha! I needed a good laugh. Toni you have come a long way from our days of middle school videography!

  32. this is hysterical! Thanks so much for keeping it light and funny. I’ll have to try out these snazzy tips!

  33. What?? You’re supposed to heat the pop tarts? I’ve always eaten them straight out of the package! 🙂

  34. That is very funny! Kind of reminds me of when my sis and I were little and would make up commercials. Cute!
