Linguine with Clam Sauce: Commissary Bargain Meal of the Week

Bargain Meal of the Week
For great meals for less you can purchase at your local store visit $5 Dinner’s new feature, Bargain Meal of the Week. Bloggers around the country create a bargain meal based on their local store sales.

If you shop at the commissary you probably know their prices change every two weeks. Not only do sales run on a two week basis, but many of their everyday low prices change as well. Each Monday I will be posting a bargain meal, created from current commissary deals.

Since I am supposed to be taking it easy, my bargain meal this week is super easy, and cheap! I found the recipe for this Commissary Bargain Meal of the Week on Allrecipes.com.

Linguine with Clam Sauce

Barilla Linguine Pasta $0.99

Snows Chopped Clams $1.00

Add a green salad and a loaf of bread and you have a tasty, easy meal for under $5.

  1. I have a similar recipe, but it uses all butter/margarine and no oil. It also uses about twice as much garlic and some dried parsley. Adding freshly-grated parmesan makes the dish a little more expensive, but oh so much tastier!

  2. Sounds good! I don’t think anyone would eat it aside from me though! I didn’t realize clams could be so inexpensive!
