Menu Plan

Over the past few months I’ve traveling quite a bit and unfortunately all the traveling has taken its toll on my back. Six years ago I had back surgery and up until a few months ago had been virtually pain free. All the flying and sleeping on airplanes hasn’t been very good for my back.

Since the chances of needing another surgery is pretty high in my case I decided it was time to get serious and start going to the Y. Now, those of you who know me, know that while I’ve always been really active (you know chasing seven kids around) I’m not a big fan of working out. But going to the Y is much better than having my spine fused together, so I’m going almost every day.

I’ve also cut out soda (I know, again) and most sugar. You’ll see that I’m still making recipes that have sugar in them, but I’m hoping to slowly change some of those recipes to have less sugar over the next few months.

    I hope you get some relief for your back pain. My husband and I both have back issues, his being worse than mine. He would probably be a good candidate for surgery but spinal fusion does not sound fun.

    I gave up soda on Ash Wednesday – not planned, but it just worked out that way. I thought we ran out at home so I didn’t have any that day. I haven’t had it since but it can be a tough thing to give up. Now giving up sugar – that’s tough!

  2. Good luck with giving up soda. I only stopped drinking diet coke when I got pregnant. I’ve had it once since then after two kids and it upset my stomach so much! I get a fix for root beer sometimes and I buy it from Whole Foods now instead so it’s made with real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup, and no food dyes.

    Here is our menu for the week~ I think I’ll try your homemade pizza dough recipe for Friday night.

  3. mmm that looks so great! great job on giving up soda! i quit a while ago with full sodas, then recently went to diet. while i HATE the taste of diet, every now and then i need that caffeine kick when im out and about. you can do it!!! good luck!
