Menu Plan: Moving Edition

Did you know that it is possible to live off of Kit Kats, peanut butter, bread, and cereal? Surprisingly, it is! The past two weeks have been crazy with the packing, driving, hotels, and now unpacking. Can you believe the movers packed ALL my food in the pantry? They even packed open bags of rice cakes! I am thankful they did, because I haven’t had time to make a trip to the grocery store and my pantry has kept us going over the weekend.

Hopefully I will check out the new commissary this week as well as Publix. I am going to miss my Safeway double coupons, but I am hoping Publix’s BOGO’s will be just as good.

This weeks menu involves lots of sandwiches, frozen pizza’s and maybe some soup. I am looking forward to getting unpacked and settled and back into a routine. While I do like our new diet of Kit Kats and cereal, I’m hoping for something more substantial next week!

I’d share a picture of my new kitchen…. but I haven’t found my camera!

  1. Toni-

Welcome to Florida! When we moved here from Indiana, I really missed my Kroger double coupons, too! I still haven’t grown to love Publix as much, but I’m trying. Esther is friends with your mom and I and posts great deals for publix on her blog, Maybe we can both grow to love Publix soon.

    Hope to see you soon!

I’ll definitely check out her Publix deals! I will probably shop at the commissary for most items, but since I can walk to Publix I will probably be shopping there for a few things.

  2. I’ve been following your updates and I hope you’re getting some rest! Hope it ends for you soon and you’re settled before you know it! I want to see that new kitchen and maybe something cooking in it when you’re done. 😉

  3. I was wondering where you were moving too as I didn’t read the location…but glad to have you here in Florida! We live in South Florida. Something great is They are homeschool moms with a great site that shows you all of the double coupons deals at Publix, CVS and Walgreens…its great! Might want to check it out!

  4. Welcome to Florida. Hope things settle down for you all soon. I look at the Publix add here and there and for us there BOGO’s don’t save us much, as for me Publix is on the other end of town which I don’t like driving that far when I know I can get things cheaper at the commissary if I just watch prices.

  5. Yes where in North Florida?? We have been at Eglin AFB for little over a month now. LOL still have darn boxes, I think they multiple at night.

    • TheHappyHousewife says:

I’m on the east coast, but I have a good friend at Eglin. Let me know if you need a friend over there and I’ll send you her info! 🙂

      • We are at Tyndall…have good Friends at Eglin 🙂

      • HappyHousewife can you resend her info. I think I may have deleted it. Would really like to make contact cause seems like I can’t get past saving a few bucks.

If you know anyone here that would be awesome. Since we are a family of 5 growing to 6 come May. Need to save as much as I can.

        Thanks in advance, Lisa

  6. Glad you and your things made it to chilly this morning NF have some fun unpacking and give the kids your empty boxes for some serious fort making 🙂

  7. Welcome to Florida and big thank you’s go to your family for their sacrifice on our behalf. I think you might find that Publix BOGO deals will save you the same or more money than shopping at the commissary. I can walk out of Publix with a cart-full of groceries for approx $70. I’m a big coupon person but no where near the best of them. You might like to also checkout for Publix, CVS, Walgreens, and other stores for their sales and matching coupons.

I so need to learn how you and others do it. So any info. for dummies would be wonderful. We are a family of 5 plus one in the “oven”. Need to make E5 salary go as far as it can.

    Happy Housewife
That would be awesome. Yeah don’t know anyone and since we are Army on Air Force base feel like an outsider. You can give her mine or me hers. I have never been great at using coupons, need to since our family has grown. Plus hubby just went from reservist to active so learning everything.

    God bless
    Proud mom and Army wife

  9. Wow – Florida…. that would be awesome. Hope you are getting settled in.

  10. I hope your Publix doubles coupons too! Ours does, but not sure about Florida ones.

  11. I do very well shopping at Publix in NE FL. They will take competitors coupons as long as the competitors are within 5 miles or so from the store. This includes Target, KMart, Food Lion, CVS, Winn Dixie (Catalinas), Whole Foods & whatever else may be in your area. No double coupons, but Publix really has become a pleasure to shop at over the chaotic alternatives.

On another note, HERI Jax homeschool convention is held at the Prime Osborne every mid-July.

  12. Welcome to Fl! I’m on the west coast. Good luck with the unpacking. I’m packing myself right now for a move this weekend. Luckily it’s w/in our neighborhood, but still…packing with 3 little kids is no fun! AND the new house isn’t really done yet w/ the renovations. I have no stove or oven! EEK! Need to find some recipes for some quick meals or it’s gonna be sandwiches and leftover Halloween candy! LOL

  13. targetsupercenter online has some coupons worth checking out.

Great Publix savings with detailed deals! Blessings on your move.
