Not Your Mother’s Make Ahead and Freeze Cookbook Giveaway

I remember when I got my first freezer cooking cookbook. The process seemed overwhelming and many of the dishes were things my family probably wouldn’t eat.

But the bottom line is, I need freezer cooking to stay sane. When my fifth baby was born I was worried my family wouldn’t eat. I made and froze 45 meals before my due date. Those meals lasted my family over two months! Freezer cooking works, but how can it work for you?

My friend Jessica has written a book that will help beginners get started and seasoned chefs add new recipes to their freezer rotation. Not Your Mother’s Make-Ahead and Freeze Cookbook will be available in October and should be your go-to guide for all things freezer cooking!

What makes this cookbook better?

A quick start section.

If you are like me, you don’t want to wade through pages and pages of information just to start. I want just the facts so I can get started and I’ll read the details later.

Cooking plans to fit a variety of schedules.

You don’t have to just make and freeze dinners! In this book, breakfasts, vegetarian, meat, and tips for creating your own plan are all included!

Fresh ingredients.

With my new fitness and eating plan I’m trying to avoid recipes that are heavy on the canned goods, especially all those cream of mushroom soup recipes! Jessica’s book uses fresh, healthy ingredients that your family will enjoy.

Tips for taking your freezer cooking on the road.

Do you know how much money you can save by making your meals on vacation? With freezer meals you can still feel like you are on vacation because all the work is already done.

Desserts.

Need I say more?

into the childhood home my husband grew up in.

  16. Sarah Smith says:

My 2 favorite freezer meal tips are ones for casseroles and grilling ahead. I love the suggestion to line the casserole dish with plastic and foil, then freeze the casserole and popping it out to store. Thaw just a smidge, unwrap and drop back in the original dish to bake. I also partially grill a lot of meats at one time, when the weather is nice. Then, I freeze them individually. They are ready to pull out in the AM to finish cooking either in the over on microwave. The grill flavor is there and they aren’t dried out.

I am getting ready to have some foot surgery and will need to get way ahead on the meals so, I am looking for all kinds of ideas.
